This guide assumes you have never used this television before. Read sections 1 to 5 once in order; after that you can jump straight to whatever you need. Nothing here can damage the TV — at worst a channel list is erased and can be rebuilt in a few minutes (Section 7).

What is connected

Your TV receives channels from a satellite dish pointed at two positions in the sky: Astra and Hotbird. The signal reaches the TV in one of two ways:

LG televisions come with one of two remotes. Identify yours first — every instruction below works with both.

The buttons you will actually use

1. Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button (red).
2. Wait a few seconds while the LG logo appears and the TV starts up.
3. If a picture and sound appear on a TV channel, you are already set — go to Section 8 to learn how to pick channels.
4. If you see a black screen, a “No signal” message, or the wrong input, continue with Section 5 to select the satellite source.

Pressing the Home button (house icon) opens a bar of icons along the bottom of the screen. This is the TV’s main menu. You do not need most of it to watch satellite TV — only two things matter:

• Inputs — where you choose Satellite or HDMI (Section 5).
• Settings — the gear icon, where channel search, sound, subtitles and accessibility live.

To leave the home screen and go back to full-screen TV, press Back or Home again.

The “source” (or “input”) tells the TV where to take the picture from. To watch Astra/Hotbird you must be on the right one.

1. Press Input / Source (or Home, then the inputs icon).
2. A row of sources appears: Satellite, HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Live TV…
3. Built-in tuner: select Satellite (sometimes shown as DVB-S or under Live TV).
4. External decoder: select the HDMI socket the box is plugged into, and switch the decoder on with its own remote.
5. Press OK. The satellite picture should appear.

Astra and Hotbird are two satellites sitting at different points above the equator. Your dish sees both at once (twin head or a DiSEqC switch). Each carries different broadcasters and languages.

Here is the key point for everyday use: you almost never choose the satellite directly. Once both have been scanned and stored (Section 7), every channel — whether it comes from Astra or Hotbird — sits in one single channel list. You just pick a channel; the TV silently switches to the right satellite for you.

Do this only if the channel list is empty or incomplete — for example after a reset, or if Astra or Hotbird is missing. If channels already work, skip to Section 8.

7.1 Start the search

1. Press Settings (gear icon), then open All Settings.
2. Go to Channels → Channel Tuning (or Auto Tuning).
3. Choose Satellite as the reception type.

• Full search — scans everything (slower, most thorough).
• Network search (NIT) — faster, fine in most cases.
• Tick Free-to-air only (FTA) if you have no subscription card, to avoid filling the list with scrambled channels.

1. Start the search and wait — a few minutes per satellite.
2. When it finishes, save the list when prompted.
3. Repeat for the second satellite if the TV does not scan both automatically.

Once channels are stored, day-to-day use is simple. Three ways to choose a channel:

Astra and Hotbird channels appear together in this one list. If your TV groups them, you may see tabs or a filter such as All, Satellite, or one entry per satellite — use the left/right arrows to switch between groups, then pick a channel as usual.

With hundreds of channels across two satellites, a favourites list saves you from endless scrolling. You build one short list of the channels you actually watch.

1. Press Settings → All Settings → Channels → Channel Manager (or Edit Channels / Favourites).
2. Select Favourites (often four groups: A, B, C, D).
3. Scroll through the full list and mark each channel you want by pressing OK on it.
4. Save and exit.
5. From now on, press List and switch to the Favourites tab to see only your channels.

The Electronic Programme Guide shows what is on now and later, like a TV magazine on screen.

1. Press the Guide button.
2. Use the arrows to move between channels (up/down) and times (left/right).
3. Highlight a programme and press OK for details, or to switch to it if it is on now.
4. Press Back to close the guide.

Many Astra/Hotbird channels broadcast in several languages and offer subtitles.

Change the audio language

• While watching, open the quick menu (the … or Settings button) and look for Audio Language, then pick your language.

Turn subtitles on or off

• Press the Subtitle button if your remote has one, or use Settings → Accessibility → Subtitles, and choose the language.

Adjust the volume balance

• VOL +/– for level, Mute to silence. Deeper options (bass, clarity, external speakers) are under Settings → Sound.

If a voice reads every menu and channel aloud, the Audio Guidance accessibility feature is on. It is not a fault and has nothing to do with the satellite.

Sets from 2021 onwards (webOS 6.0 or later):

1. Press Settings (gear), then All Settings.
2. Go to General → Accessibility.
3. Select Audio Guidance and switch it to Off.

Older sets (before 2020, webOS 5.0 or earlier): Settings → All Settings → Accessibility → Audio Guidance → Off (no “General” sub-menu).

Shortcut: press and hold the Mute button for about 3 seconds to open the Accessibility menu directly, then turn Audio Guidance off.
